Housing Policy
TheKōkōhīnau Papakāinga Trust Housing is a unique marae based Papakāinga Communal living lifestyle rental opportunity.
Purpose
- To aid the management decisions which will give effect to it’s long-term plans for safe affordable rental housing on the Kōkōhīnau Papakāinga Trust marae based land housing complex.
- To identify affordable housing needs with the Land Beneficiaries and ensure rental housing is allocated on a needs and merit basis where their social, health and well– being will be significantly improved by a marae based Papakāinga Communal living lifestyle.
- To advocate a measure of transparency to ensure that the administration of application for houses is without bias and independently managed.
Allocation
- Priority of Expression of Interest(EOI) applications will be offered to Land Beneficiaries and any further applications will be at the discretion of the Kōkōhīnau Papakāinga Trust Trustees.
- All applications must be made on the Kōkōhīnau Papakāinga Trust (KKPT) Expression of Interest Forms (EOI) available from the Kōkōhīnau Papakāinga Trust Office located at 243 TeTeko road. Or contact can be made with the Trust kpthousing@gmail.com
- No verbal or email / text requests or incomplete application forms will be accepted.
- For safety purposes it would be most helpful to have as much information of the Tenants and all other people residing in the houses be noted in their application. This will assure for safety purposes that the Trust has immediate access to make contact with the appropriate Tenants or other relevant persons in case of emergencies.
- Drivers License or NZ Passport with valid photo identification of applicants or other parties must be provided at time of application.
- Three(3) independent Referees are compulsory. One verbal and two written
- A waiting list will be maintained and when a home becomes available it will be allocated to the best applicant based on needs and merit.
Expression of Interest - Application Form
This EOI Form will assist KKPT management in making an allocation decision. This process is intended to formally record the receipt of an application, the decision and rationale.
Conflict of Interest
All KKPT employees or governance members involved in the priority decision making process must declare Conflict of Interest (COI) and register any personal or other relationship with an applicant / applicant’s being considered for housing and must withdraw from any involvement in the selection process.
