Housing Policy

TheKōkōhīnau Papakāinga Trust Housing is a unique marae based Papakāinga Communal living lifestyle rental opportunity.

Purpose
  1. To aid the management decisions which will give effect to it’s long-term plans for safe affordable rental housing on the Kōkōhīnau Papakāinga Trust marae based land housing complex.
  2. To identify affordable housing needs with the Land Beneficiaries and ensure rental housing is allocated on a needs and merit basis where their social, health and well– being will be significantly improved by a marae based Papakāinga Communal living lifestyle.
  3. To advocate a measure of transparency to ensure that the administration of application for houses is without bias and independently managed.
Allocation
  1. Priority of Expression of Interest(EOI) applications will be offered to Land Beneficiaries and any further applications will be at the discretion of the Kōkōhīnau Papakāinga Trust Trustees.
  2. All applications must be made on the Kōkōhīnau Papakāinga Trust (KKPT) Expression of Interest Forms (EOI) available from the Kōkōhīnau Papakāinga Trust Office located at 243 TeTeko road. Or contact can be made with the Trust kpthousing@gmail.com
  3. No verbal or email / text requests or incomplete application forms will be accepted.
  4. For safety purposes it would be most helpful to have as much information of the Tenants and all other people residing in the houses be noted in their application. This will assure for safety purposes that the Trust has immediate access to make contact with the appropriate Tenants or other relevant persons in case of emergencies.
  5. Drivers License or NZ Passport with valid photo identification of applicants or other parties must be provided at time of application.
  6. Three(3) independent Referees are compulsory. One verbal and two written

This EOI Form will assist KKPT management in making an allocation decision. This process is intended to formally record the receipt of an application, the decision and rationale.


Conflict of Interest

All KKPT employees or governance members involved in the priority decision making process must declare Conflict of Interest (COI) and register any personal or other relationship with an applicant / applicant’s being considered for housing and must withdraw from any involvement in the selection process.

Are you prepared to volunteer your qualifications and skills with the KKPT Papakainga Communual complex and the Kokoinau marae?

Attendance at Kokohinau marae functions and events are valued and welcome to encourage good relationship. Will you be prepared to attend?

Are you prepared to be involved and assist with any activities established within the KKPT Papakainga Communal complex?

As a precautionary process. Police Vetting will be a requirement on you and all other people included in your application to support you all into this rental accommodation. Do you agree?

To maintain an alcohol & drug free & safe living Papakainga Communal complex. Drug Testing will also be part of this application. Will you agree to be tested?

The Kokohinau Papakainga Trust considers that Alcohol is one ofthe key elements of social problems and has a NO ALCOHOL Policy.

The Kokohinau Papakainga Trust considers Drugs is also a key element of social problems and has a NO DRUGS Policy. Drug testing is compulsory.

The Kokohinau Papakainga trust considers that Violence is also a key element of Social problems. For the Safety of Whanau members other Tenants and KKPT personnel. It has a NON-TOLERANCETO VIOLENCE Policy.

The Kokohinau Papakainga Trust considers to be a dangerous weapon to be located on the Communal Papakainga Complex and has a NO FIREARMS in any premises or property of the Kokohinau Papakainga Trust

The Kokohinau Papakainga Trust considers pets and animals as also a key element of Social and Health & Safety problems. DOGS & LARGE ANIMALS Policy. However,inside pets such as cats, caged birds i.e., Budgies and Goldfish, will be considered by the Trust on application.

The Kokohinau Papakainga Trust considers in the consideration of Tenants. There is a NO GANG MEMBERSHIP & GANG EGALIA Policy.

Are there any further requirements you may need to make to help support you and your family while being accommodated on the Kokohinau Papakainga Trust Housing Rental Complex.
