The Kōkōhinau Papakainga housing site is based in a rural location between the townships of Te Teko and Edgecumbe 20 minutes drive west from the township of Whakatane and 14 minutes drive north east from the township of Kawerau.

The Kōkōhinau Papakāinga Trust offers 2-bedroom modern housing rental accomadation in a unique papakāinga housing set up and experience situated near Kōkōhinau Marae where families living on the Kōkōhinau Papakāinga can support and help each other in a community enviroment. 

The Kōkōhinau Papakāinga Trust who oversee the Kōkōhinau Papakāinga housing site aim to provide a housing papakainga which is violent free, gang free, alcohol & smoko free where indivduals living on the Kōkōhinau Papakāinga can support each other towards living a healthy lifestyle where tenants can focus on healthy living in a limited temptation free enviroment.

Our houses are built to provide our tenants with healthy, insulated, warm cosy housing accomadation with modern washing, cooking, heating, air conditioning & dishwashing facilites to support our tenants staying on the papakāinga.

Our houses are buit to utilise and support gas bottle heating and also solar energy to help with energy storgae and power savings.
